Throughout life I have always questioned, how much of ourselves are we really giving away? We live in a world of such fierce competition. Who can out graft the next person? Who is the trendiest? The list goes on but you get the idea. One factor that is strongly tied to your external worth and position within this world is of course... money!
We all unfortunately need it in order to survive and I use the world survive because, if you're earning a minimum wage that really is all you can do, but how much of ourselves are we giving away in exchange for this? Mental health? Missing time with our children? Having to maybe pass on those special celebrations? Physical health? Stress? No time for yourself? Perhaps part of your relationship?
Now don't get me wrong, having a hard work ethic is truly admirable. At one point I was working 3 jobs in my early 20's, so don't get the impression I'm mocking it. However, on the flip side these people who sale so much of their life to a company or organisation don't seem to be any happier? If anything it's quite the opposite. Do you really think the company you work for really care you're sacrificing time with your kids? Or that maybe you get home, cry, and have the incoming sense of dread for what tomorrow will bring? That at night you can't sleep because you're worried and stressed about something work related. No... so this makes me ask, how much are we really giving away in order to receive our allowance? But also is it even worth it?
